My trip to India in May 2012
Most people who think of India, don’t know where to start, most likely they feel overwhelmed… and so did I. When I knew I had an opportunity to travel to India with Abercrombie & Kent I knew that this is an opportunity not to pass on. Not only did I have the most amazing experience, I think there is not one thing that should have been different to make it a better trip. We had the most amazing tour director that one can wish for, Vishal Ghai who is incredibly knowledgeable and knows exactly how and when best to share his knowledge. He says, people pay a lot of money to be here, it is their time to enjoy the country, I am here for them so that they can have the best trip possible… and he means exactly that.
Wow, what in incredible guy, I wish he could teach every tour guide how to convey knowledge, interest and a good sense of humor. We traveled using every means of transportation, from busses to riskshas, elephants, bicycles, taxis, oh and we did walk sometimes. Abercrombie & Kent will make sure it’s not just a trip but an experience, to be remembered forever.
After this trip, India moved to the top of my most favorite experiences of all times. Imagine that!
Here are two of my favorite moments. The first one was seeing the Taj Mahal for the very first time. It is beyond amazing and not knowing what to expect, I promise you will enjoy every second of it. My second favorite experience was entering the Jain Temple in Ranakpur. I was overwhelmed with the energy… entering the temple, being greeted by the priest and welcomed into this amazing place with such serene and beautiful energy, it brought tears to my eyes.
India is beyond amazing, however you have to travel the right way by not roughing it. I think that most westerners should not be taking shortcuts. I have spoken to people that did and now they are back in the US talking poorly about India because it wasn’t up to their standards. It’s not about us to judge a country because we made wrong choices. I may suggest you use a travel agent to avoid any bad surprises. And yes, travel agents still exist and they do a wonderful job at putting together some amazing experiences. If you need a recommendation, let me know.
